LOS ANGELES (CNS) - “The Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard'' debuted atop the North American box office over the weekend, knocking another sequel -- “A Quiet Place Part II'' -- out of the top spot after three weeks, according to figures released today.
“The Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard,'' featuring Ryan Reynolds, Samuel L. Jackson and Salma Hayek, collected $11.4 million between Friday and Monday to lead the way at reopening theaters, according to box-office tracker Comscore.
“A Quiet Place Part II'' fell to second place with $9.1 million, as its four-week total reached $124.9 million.
Two more sequels also landed in the top five, with “Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway'' collected $6.1 million to place third and “The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It'' taking fourth place with $5 million.
Disney's “Cruella'' placed fifth over the weekend with $4.8 million.
Rounding out the top 10 films of the weekend were “In the Heights'' ($4.2 million); “Spirit Untamed'' ($1.6 million); “12 Mighty Orphans'' ($903,554); “The House Next Door: Meet The Blacks 2'' ($601,607); and “Wrath Of Man'' ($445,165).
