LONG BEACH (CNS) - A man was in custody today in the shooting death of another man in April in Long Beach, and police were looking for other possible suspects.

Vai Ho-Ching, 20, of Long Beach was arrested Thursday afternoon near his home, the Long Beach Police Department reported. Ho-Ching was booked on suspicion of murder and held on $2 million bail, police said.

“Detectives are actively investigating and believe there may be additional suspects,'' police said in a statement. “Detectives will continue to evaluate evidence and seek out additional witnesses until everyone who played a role in the murder has been arrested.''

The crime occurred about 1:30 a.m. on April 2 near the 1900 block of Canal Avenue, where officers were sent on a report of shots fired, police said. The officers found two men suffering from gunshot wounds to their upper bodies, police said.

Daniel Jacinto, 40, of Long Beach was pronounced dead at the scene, and the other man, whose name was not released, was taken to a hospital in critical but stable condition, police said.

Following the crime, investigators said they believed the victims and the suspect knew each other and the shooting stemmed from a dispute between them. The case was being investigated as gang-related, police said.

Anyone with information on the shooting was urged to contact homicide detectives at 562-570-7244. Anonymous tips can be called in to Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477.
