San Francisco has become a shoplifter's paradise. There was a Walgreens heist that happened right in front of a security guard.
"What happened in Walgreens has been going on in that city for quite a while. I'm used to it. I man we can have a greatest hits compilation of people just walking in and cleaning out the store shelved and security guards, the people who work there, just standing helplessly because they can't do anything. said San Francisco police Lt. Tracy McCray.
According to NYPost cops and prosecutors are at odds over Proposition 47, a 2014 referendum that lowered the penalty for stealing good worth less than $950 from a felony to a misdemeanor. According to McCray it emboldens criminals.
The city's police union blamed city prosecutors for the shoplifting spree.
"This brazen criminal behavior is endured every single day by San Franciscans and it is the direct result of District Attorney Chesa Boudin and his enablers criminals-first agenda." said Tony Montoya, president of the San Francisco Police Officers Association.
Boudin said the cops need to do more. Watch the shocking video of the Walgreens shoplifter.
