A raccoon got stuck in a sewer cover just outside Detroit forcing firefighters to get creative.
The Harrison Township FD arrived at the scene to the sight of the little guy with his head completely through the hole in the middle of the cover.
They tried putting soap on the raccoon’s body—it didn’t work. They thought about cutting into the cover—too risky.
Then one of the firefighters had an idea, he asked a resident to bring some cooking oil to the scene. It worked like a charm!
The animal was freed with no injuries, and Lt. Brian Lorkowski can now brag about his first ever raccoon rescue.
