Man Killed In Van Nuys Hit-And-Run, Suspect Vehicle Sought

VAN NUYS (CNS) - A man was killed by a hit-and-run driver in Van Nuys and police today were searching for the suspect's vehicle.

The victim was walking across Hazeltine Avenue, south of Gault Street, at about 8:50 p.m. Sunday when he was struck by a silver sedan traveling northbound on Hazeltine, according to a Los Angeles Police Department statement.

The silver sedan fled the scene.

Paramedics took the pedestrian to a hospital, where he died of his injures. His name was withheld pending notification of his next of kin.

Police described the silver sedan as having severe damage to its front end and windshield and asked anyone with information to contact LAPD Valley Traffic Division Officer Takishita at 818-644-8116 or Officer Fredo at 818-644-8037.
