HARBOR CITY (CNS) - A brush fire that broke out this morning near Los Angeles Harbor College in Harbor City scorched two acres before being contained by firefighters.

Crews responded at 3:10 a.m. to the 1400 block of L Street, just west of the Harbor (110) Freeway and behind the college's baseball diamond, according to Nicholas Prange of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

A water shuttle, where fire engines take turns filling up at the nearest hydrant and driving water to the remote area where an engine is feeding hose lines, was established to battle the flames, Prange said.

A total of 51 firefighters extinguished the flames in just over two hours, and a knock down was called at 5:20 a.m., he said.

No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire was under investigation.
