More Than 100 Firefighters Douse Blaze in Vacant Downtown Clinic Building

LOS ANGELES (CNS) - It took 102 firefighters 51 minutes early today to put out a greater-alarm fire that burned through the roof of a vacant medical clinic building in downtown Los Angeles.

The fire was reported at 2:08 a.m. in the center section of three adjoining buildings at 1848 S. Main St., said the Los Angeles Fire Department's Brian Humphrey.

Firefighters waged a defensive battle against the fire, pouring water on the flames from outside to protect surrounding structures, Humphrey said.

No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire was under investigation.
