SAN DIMAS (CNS) - A tire came loose from an eastbound big rig on a San Dimas freeway, crossed the center divider and struck a westbound big rig, overturning it, authorities said today.
The accident was reported at 5:36 p.m. Sunday on the westbound Foothill (210) Freeway near San Dimas Avenue, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The overturned big rig was loaded with hay, and westbound lanes were blocked, the CHP said.
The driver was able to get out of the overturned vehicle, but it was unclear if he required medical aid.
A SigAlert was issued at 5:44 p.m., shutting down all westbound lanes at San Dimas Avenue. The HOV lane was reopened about 8 p.m. and the fast lane about 11:30 p.m. The Sigalert was canceled at 1:17 a.m. Monday.
