Santa Ana House Fire Burns for Two Hours, Extinguished

SANTA ANA (CNS) - Fire ripped through a home near a fire station in Santa Ana and caused heavy damage before being extinguished by firefighters this morning.

Crews arrived about 11 p.m. Thursday in the 1600 block of East Fourth Street, near the Santa Ana (5) Freeway and just two doors away from fire station 72, according to the Orange County Fire Authority.

The flames caused heavy damage to both floors and weakened the structure, prompting crews to fight the fire in a defensive mode, the authority said.

About 1:10 a.m. Friday, the OCFA announced firefighters were going through the house to ensure all hot spots were extinguished. No injuries were reported, and the cause was under investigation.
