Driver Injured in Crash that Ended High-Speed Pursuit

ROSEMEAD (CNS) - A driver was injured early this morning after leading California Highway Patrol officers on a brief but fast pursuit on the San Bernardino (10) Freeway that ended in an off-ramp crash in Rosemead.

CHP officers began the pursuit at 12:13 a.m. after officers observed the speeding vehicle westbound on the San Bernardino Freeway and noted the driver reached a speed of 125 mph, according to CHP Officer Tony Polizzi.

The motorist crashed while exiting the freeway at Walnut Grove Avenue at 12:17 a.m., Polizzi told City News Service.

The driver was taken by paramedics to a hospital for treatment of injuries, he said.

No further details about the pursuit or the driver's injuries were immediately available.

The CHP issued a SigAlert at 12:57 a.m. shutting down the Walnut Grove Avenue off-ramp and on-ramp to the westbound San Bernardino Freeway.
