WESTLAKE VILLAGE (CNS) - An investigation was expected to continue today after a single-engine Cessna plane made a successful emergency landing on the southbound Ventura (101) Freeway in Westlake Village, with all occupants safe.
The incident happened around 7 p.m. Monday just north of Lindero Canyon Road, L.A. County Fire Department Dispatch Supervisor Michael Pittman said.
The initial report suggested the plane came down at Reyes Adobe Road, but the location was later corrected.
The plane was pushed off the freeway, but the California Highway Patrol temporarily closed all southbound lanes in the vicinity, and issued a SigAlert at 7:36 p.m.
The cause of the emergency was not immediately known. The pilot notified Van Nuys Airport Traffic Control that the plane was in trouble and needed to make an emergency landing.
The incident will be investigated by the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board.
