SANTA ANA (CNS) - Two alleged Los Angeles gang members were behind bars today on charges related to the fatal shooting of a man in a Garden Grove hotel in January.
Enrique Torres, 19, of Los Angeles, is charged with murder with sentencing enhancements for gang activity, discharge of a gun causing death and the personal use of a firearm.
Agustin Jerardo Cortez, 31, is charged with attempted murder, assault with force likely to produce great bodily injury and being an accessory after the fact, all felonies.
Cortez also faces sentencing enhancements for attempted premeditated murder, gang activity, and a gang member's vicarious discharge of a firearm causing great bodily injury.
They are charged in connection with the fatal shooting of 28-year-old Eddie Barajas on Jan. 17.
Police were dispatched just after 3:45 a.m. that day for a shooting at the Hyatt Regency Orange County at 11999 Harbor Blvd. The victim was rushed to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, said Garden Grove Police Department Lt. Mario Martinez.
Torres and Cortez were arrested May 18.
Cortez is next due in court for arraignment on June 2 and Torres is scheduled to be arraigned on June 4.
