Transient Charged with Attempting to Sexually Assault Young Woman

SANTA ANA (CNS) - A transient was charged today with breaking into a young woman's Anaheim apartment in the middle of the day with the intention of sexually assaulting her.

Czarek Walczuk, 43, is scheduled to be arraigned June 4 on one count each of burglary, false imprisonment, vandalism, child abuse and assault with the intent to commit a sex offense.

Walczuk is accused of following the 18-year-old woman into her apartment in the 1100 block of West Fay Lane about 12:15 p.m. Monday, according to Anaheim police Sgt. Shane Carringer.

“She attempted to lock herself in the apartment because he was acting so bizarrely,'' Carringer said.

The defendant “kicked in her door'' and was bursting through another door in the apartment as police arrived, the sergeant said.

The victim's 7-year-old sister was in the apartment at the time as, well, Carringer said.
