ALTADENA (CNS) - A cougar that was found dead in the San Gabriel Mountains could not have its cause of death determined, it was announced today.
The cougar was found on March 14 by hikers walking along a trail, according to the Cougar Conservancy.
The non-profit organization's Conflict Task Force, with cooperation from the Altadena Town Council, investigated the scene and spoke with residents in the area in an attempt to determine how the cougar died.
However, the Cougar Conservancy announced in a Facebook post on Tuesday that a cause of death could not be determined due to the body's “postmortem state.”
