Flames in Sawtelle Area Pharmacy Quickly Extinguished

LOS ANGELES (CNS) - A pharmacy in Sawtelle was damaged by fire, authorities said this morning.

Firefighters responded at 11:11 p.m. Friday to the 11700 block of Santa Monica Boulevard, near Granville Avenue, and found smoke showing from the one-story building, according to Nicholas Prange of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

``Firefighters made a bold stand to prevent the fire from spreading throughout the row of (businesses) next door, just on the other side of a shared interior wall,'' Prange said.

A total of 26 firefighters extinguished the flames in the 1,380 square- foot building in 30 minutes and a knock down was called at 11:41 p.m., he said.

No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire was under investigation.
