‘Empty the Shelters' Adoption Push Begins at Two LA Locations

LOS ANGELES (CNS) - Two local spcaLA animal shelters will offer $25 pet adoption fees for dogs and cats during a five-day “Empty the Shelters'' campaign that begins today.

Bissell Pet Foundation is sponsoring the reduced adoption fees for qualified adopters at the spcaLA's shelters in Long Beach and Hawthorne during the event, which runs through Sunday.

Interested adopters may visit www.spcaLA.com/adopt and click “Apply to Adopt.''

Pet adoptions are currently an online process, with spcaLA pet adoption centers closed to the public.

More than 49,000 pets from 365 shelters in 43 states and Canada have been adopted through the program, and it is the fourth “Empty the Shelters'' event in which the spcaLA has participated since 2020, officials said.

Meanwhile, Los Angeles County Animal Care & Control is offering cats and kittens this month for a $4 adoption fee that includes vaccination, spaying or neutering and microchip fees. Animals up for adoption can be viewed at https://animalcare.lacounty.gov/view-our-animals/.
