Police Say a Massive California Wildfire was Started to Cover up Murder

A 2020 wildfire that appeared to claim the lives of three people, and eventually became part of one of the biggest fires in California's history, was allegedly set on purpose to cover up a murder of one of the alleged victims.

According to the Solano County Sheriff's Office, 29-year-old Victor Serriteno has been arrested in connection with the murder of 32-year-old Priscilla Castro.

Sheriff Tom Ferrara says Castro's body was found near the Stebbins-Cold Canyon area.

"Based on an extensive eight-month long investigation, we believe Serriteno deliberately set the Markley Fire in an attempt to conceal this crime."

Ferrara says Serriteno has been charged with murder and arson.
