Police line

SANTA ANA (CNS) - Santa Ana police today were investigating a collision that killed a pedestrian last night.

Police were called just before 10:30 p.m. Monday to Harbor Boulevard and First Street regarding the collision, according to Cpl. Anthony Bertagna of the Santa Ana Police Department.

The male victim, whose name and age were not released, was rushed to an area hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, Bertagna said.

The pedestrian was crossing First Street just east of Harbor Boulevard when he was struck by the vehicle, which was going westbound on First Street, Bertagna said.

The driver stopped and cooperated with investigators. It does not appear that alcohol played a part in the collision, Bertagna said.

Anyone who saw the collision was asked to call police at 714-245-8223 or 714-245-8200.
