SANTA FE SPRINGS (CNS) - A big rig, carrying an estimated 50,000 pounds of cargo, crashed this morning on the San Gabriel River (605) Freeway in Santa Fe Springs, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The truck, with its trailer landing on its side, was blocking all northbound lanes, as well as the transition road to the northbound Santa Ana (5) Freeway and the Studebaker Road onramp to the 5 Freeway, according to the CHP. The crash happened about 11 a.m.
Part of the trailer had also fallen down an embankment, the CHP reported.
A SigAlert was issued by the CHP at 11:13 a.m.
The CHP reported there was no time estimate on how long the closures would last.
