Man Shot to Death in Unincorporated Area Near South Los Angeles

LOS ANGELES (CNS) - A man was shot to death in the unincorporated Athens area near South Los Angeles in what authorities said this morning may have been a gang-related shooting.

Deputies from the South Los Angeles station responded about 8 p.m. Wednesday to a call of a gunshot victim in the 12000 block of South Vermont Avenue, near the Century (105) Freeway and Los Angeles city limit, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics.

Investigators believe the shooting was gang-related, the sheriff's department said.

The name of the victim was not disclosed.

A detailed description of the shooter was not immediately available.
