Authorities ID Man Killed in Monrovia Shooting

MONROVIA (CNS) - Authorities today identified a man who was fatally shot in Monrovia and whose killer was being sought.

Officers responded at about 5:30 p.m. Monday to a shots-fired call in the 100 block of Los Angeles Avenue, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, which was assisting the Monrovia Police Department with the investigation.

Darione Tyrone Jones, 25, of Arcadia died at the scene, according to the Los Angeles County coroner's office and the sheriff's department. Jones had suffered wounds to his upper and lower body, the sheriff's department reported.

A motive for the shooting and suspect information were not available. Anyone with information on the case was urged to call the sheriff's Homicide Bureau at 323-890-5500, or Crime Stoppers at 800-222-TIPS.
