Man Arrested in Connection with Gas Station Fire in Baldwin Park

BALDWIN PARK (CNS) - A man was in custody in connection with a fire that spread from a vehicle to a gas station in Baldwin Park, it was reported this morning.

The incident occurred about 1 a.m. Monday at a Mobil gas station in the 12600 block of East Ramona Boulevard, near the San Gabriel River (605) Freeway.

Baldwin Park police arrested the man on suspicion of arson Monday morning in the area of the gas station, CBS2 reported.

Video showed a vehicle pull up to a pump, the driver stepping out and walking around the vehicle and appearing to be speaking to a  passenger when a flash is seen and the car starts smoking as a passenger gets out of the vehicle.

The vehicle explodes in flames, which spread to a gas pump.

No one was hurt in the fire, and the two people in the vehicle ran from the scene, CBS2 said.

A description of the second suspect was not immediately available.

The name of the man arrested was not disclosed.
