Tonight, the one and only LeVar Burton joined Conway and Mark Thompson for the show!
LeVar is an institution, from his role as Kunta Kinte in the iconic mini-series Roots, to hosting 21 seasons of Reading Rainbow and his role as engineer Geordi La Forgeon Star Trek: The Next Generation, he has inspired, delighted and shaped the minds of children and adults alike.
And many think he would be the perfect person to take over the reigns of hosting our most beloved trivia show, Jeopardy.
After the loss of Alex Trebek, many names were thrown around as the next host. Ken Jennings, Dr. Oz, Katie Couric and Jeopardy's Executive Producer Mike Richard have filled the position temporarily, but the try-outs will continue and many have wondered why LeVar's name has not been announced as a possibility.
In an interview with MSNBC's Joshua Johnson, LeVar said:
"In many respects, I feel like I have been preparing my whole life for the job...should that job come my way, I would be exceedingly glad."
So many people want LeVar to host, they've actually created a petition for it, and so far more than 116,000 people have signed the petition "Make LeVar Burton the NEW host of Jeopardy"!
We'd love to see him get the gig, but even if he doesn't, he still has plenty of things happening.
His debut children's book, The Rhino Who Swallowed a Storm brings to parents an uplifting, warm and powerful story that helps children cope with difficult moments in everyday life.
Season 8 of his podcast LeVar Burton Reads debuts on April 4th. It's available for free on Spotify, Apple Podcasts or Stitcher, or check out the website for a starter playlist of episodes.
In each episode, Burton invites you to take a break from daily life, take a deep breath and dive into a great story. His narration, blended with amazing soundscapes brings stories from Ray Bradbury, Neil Gaiman, Haruki Murakami, Octavia Butler and more, to life.
