Tinder to Allow Users to Run a Background Check on Potential Dates

Whether you're trying to avoid being catfished or becoming a feature story on Dateline, we all want to check up on dating app matches.

Tinder and other Match Group-owned dating platforms are looking to help by investing in Garbo.

Garbo is a nonprofit that allows people to run background checks on people based on basic information like first names and phone numbers.

Using the service, dating app users will be able to know if the person they swipe right on has a criminal record.

Details are still being worked out, including the price of the service, but a trial run is expected to launch on Tinder in the next few months.
