LOS ANGELES (CNS) - A motorist driving northbound in the southbound lanes of the San Diego (405) Freeway in the South Bay area this morning triggered a crash that left three vehicles in lanes and one vehicle over the side of the road.
At 2:24 a.m. the California Highway Patrol received a report of a small vehicle driven northbound in the southbound slow lanes of the San Diego Freeway at about 15 mph.
One minute later, a three-vehicle collision was reported just north of Vermont Avenue leaving two vehicles in the far right lanes and one vehicle in the left lane, the CHP said.
A fourth vehicle was located down an embankment with one person trapped inside. Los Angeles Fire Department firefighters freed that motorist.
No injuries were reported, said CHP Officer Peter Nicholson.
