The McPlant and Other Healthy Food Options are Headed to Major Chains

Healthier and environmentally friendly choices will be coming to some of your favorite fast-food restaurants.

Beyond Meat, a plant-based food company, is partnering with several of the major fast-food operators in an effort to expand each restaurant's plant-based options.

On Thursday, Beyond Meat announced joint agreements with McDonald’s and Yum Brands, which operates KFC, Taco Bell and Pizza Hut.

McDonald’s is expected to introduce the “McPlant” burger as well plant-based pork, egg and chicken items.

“Beyond Fried Chicken” products will also be expanded by Beyond Meat to supplement KFC menu offerings.

Plant-based food products have been gaining popularity over the years among large chains with an aim to offer healthier and environmentally conscious products to the specific restaurant’s customer base.

Impossible Foods has a distribution agreement with Burger King to also provide plant-based products.
