Brush Fire in Pacoima Scorches 1.5 Acres, Progress Stopped

PACOIMA (CNS) - Firefighters stopped progress of a brush fire in Pacoima at about 1.5 acres this morning with no structures damaged or threatened.

The blaze was reported about 2:35 a.m. in the 12800 block of Paxton Street and burned toward the Ronald Reagan (118) Freeway, according to Margaret Stewart of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Progress of the fire was stopped about 3:10 a.m. and crews worked to extinguish any remaining hot spots, she said.

Traffic on the eastbound Ronald Reagan Freeway near the westbound Foothill (210) Freeway was partially blocked to allow firefighters to work in the area, according to the California Highway Patrol.
