Mian, a Chongqing noodle house with two other locations, has just opened up a new location in Artesia! Owners Sean Xu and Bill Chait join Neil to discuss the struggles of opening a new restaurant during a pandemic. They put Chengdu's Sichuan cuisine on the map in LA, so it's great to see them grow and move outside of the San Gabriel Valley for the first time with this first of two locations away from the San Gabriel Valley. Its first location in Alhambra opened in 2016 to much acclaim, receiving a glowing review from the late L.A. Times Restaurant Critic Jonathan Gold and winning a Michelin Bib Gourmand.
Mian Artesia will be open daily for lunch through dinner for delivery, takeout, and outdoor dining, and include new dishes exclusive to the location, including Chengdu Beef Jerky and Thousand-Year-Old Egg with Torched Chili Sauce. Unlike its sister locations, it will also offer beer & wine -- including a Mung Bean Horchata Cocktail, a soju-based cocktail that pays homage to the restaurant's signature mung bean tea.
