Fire Damages Building in North Hills

NORTH HILLS (CNS) - A fire in a building in North Hills burned for 24 minutes this morning before being extinguished by firefighters.

Crews responded at 2:39 a.m. to the structure located at 16650 Schoenborn St., near Hayvenhurst Avenue, and found fire burning on the second floor, according to Brian Humphrey of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

A total of 33 firefighters extinguished the flames in 24 minutes, and a knock down was called at 3:03 a.m., he said.

A news photographer at the scene said a suspect was taken into custody by Los Angeles police. Further details were not immediately available.

No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire was under investigation.
