Vacant South Park Home Damaged by Fire

LOS ANGELES (CNS) - A fire in a vacant home in the South Park neighborhood caused significant damage to the structure before being extinguished by firefighters this morning.

Crews responded about 3:50 a.m. to the 200 block of East 53rd Street, near San Pedro Street, and found heavy fire coming from the one-story home, which had previously burned, according to Brian Humphrey of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

A total of 37 firefighters worked to extinguish the flames, and a knock down was called at 4:10 a.m., Humphrey said.

No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire was under investigation.
