Councilman Joe Buscaino wants to sue L.A. schools to reopen

LA City Councilman Joe Buscaino talked to John & Ken today about his frustration with LAUSD officials and the idiot LA teachers union goons.

LA Times:

Buscaino said he plans to submit a resolution next week, for consideration by the full council, that would direct the city attorney to file a lawsuit modeled on one announced this week by San Francisco officials, against the San Francisco Unified School District. In part, the suit accuses the district of not complying with state requirements to offer classroom-based instruction to the extent possible under health constraints.

LAUSD Superintendent Austin Beutner responded today in a statement:

“We are ready to reopen and want nothing more than to welcome children back to classrooms safely, but we cannot break state law to do so. What we cannot control is the community spread of COVID-19 in the Los Angeles area, which has not for one single day since the beginning of the crisis met the state standards for school reopening. Schools cannot reopen because the communities we serve have had persistent infection rates higher than the state COVID standard which must be met for schools to reopen."
