Strip Mall Fire in Chinatown Quickly Extinguished

LOS ANGELES (CNS) - A fire that damaged a strip mall in Chinatown this morning was extinguished by firefighters in just 18 minutes.

Crews responded at 2:37 a.m. to the 900 block of Vignes Street, near Bauchet Street and the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Men's Central Jail, and found fire coming from the one-story building, according to Nicholas Prange of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

“An aggressive coordinated interior fire attack with vertical ventilation led to the fire being extinguished in only 18 minutes,'' Prange said.

A knock down was called at 2:55 a.m.

No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire was under investigation.
