LOS ANGELES (CNS) - Fire tore through the roof of an auto parts storage building in Cypress Park early this morning, but firefighters kept the flames from spreading to other businesses and no injuries were reported.
Crews responded at 4:02 a.m. to 1004 N. San Fernando Road, near Maceo Street, and found flames shooting from the 150- by 200-foot, one-story building, according to Brian Humphrey of the Los Angeles Fire Department.
The 131 firefighters assigned to the greater-alarm blaze had to deal with dense storage conditions within the building, Humphrey said.
It took about two hours to contain the blaze and more than six hours to fully extinguish it. The official “knockdown'' time was about 10:40 a.m., according to the LAFD's Nicholas Prange, who said firefighters remained on scene to guard against any flareups.
The cause of the fire was under investigation.
