Authorities ID Pair Killed in Palmdale Hit-And-Run

PALMDALE (CNS) - Authorities today identified a teenager and a young man who were killed in a hit-and-run crash over the weekend in Palmdale, and continued their efforts to solve the crime.

The crash occurred at about 10:20 p.m. Saturday near 10th Street West and Avenue O-8, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

Sergio Martinez, 18, and Albert Cruz, 17, both of Palmdale, died at the scene, according to the sheriff's department and the Los Angeles County coroner's office.

Witnesses said the driver of a black vehicle was fleeing from a previous crash when he drove through an intersection and T-boned a silver Honda carrying the fatally injured victims, sheriff's officials said.

Two other people suffered injuries but declined to be transported to an area hospital, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

The hit-and-run motorist fled on foot, according to sheriff's officials, who asked anyone with information regarding the crash to call investigators at 661-272-2400.
