Government officials in Japan say the Tokyo Summer Olympics will go on, despite a new report that said otherwise.
- On Thursday, the British newspaper The Times reported the Summer Olympics were going to be canceled because of the ongoing pandemic.
- But, Friday morning, the local organizing committee released a statement stating plans are moving forward.
"[We are] fully focused on hosting the games this summer."
- IOC President Thomas Bach also pledged the games will happen and there's "no plan B."
- The Tokyo Summer Olympics were originally scheduled for last summer but got rescheduled for summer 2021.
