LA PUENTE (CNS) - The shooting in La Puente that injured a 5-year-old boy was gang-related and the shooter was at large this morning.
It happened about 9:15 p.m. Wednesday in the 14200 block of Nelson Avenue, near Sunkist Avenue, according to sheriff's Deputy James Nagao.
The parents of the victim were getting out their car when a dark-colored sedan pulled up, someone inside yelled ``Puente,'' and opened fire. The boy was struck in his upper right thigh and taken to a hospital by his parents, where he was treated and released, Nagao said.
A detailed description of the shooter was not immediately available.
Anyone with information about the shooting was asked to call the Industry Sheriff's Station at 626-330-3322.
