LOS ANGELES (CNS) - Three Southern California Walmart stores and a Sam's Club supermarket were temporarily closed today to be cleaned and sanitized in an attempt to prevent the spread of the coronavirus, according to reports.
The stores shut down until Friday are Walmart's Neighborhood Market in Downey at 12270 Paramount Blvd.; its Torrance Supercenter at 22015 Hawthorne Blvd.; the Huntington Beach Supercenter at 8230 Talbert Ave.; and the South Gate Sam's Club at 871 Firestone Blvd., reported the Southern California News Group and KCAL9.
The retail chain said the closures will provide enough time for a third-party cleaning crew to sanitize the buildings, according to the news reports.
The company did not say whether any employees had tested positive for the virus, but told KCAL9 in a statement ``Everything we're doing is for the well-being of our associates and customers, and in consideration of guidance by the Centers for Disease Control and health experts.''
The Walmart stores are set to reopen at 7 a.m. Friday and the Sam's Club location at 8 a.m.
