Yelp is now allowing consumers to weigh in on restaurants’ COVID-19 safety measures.
The online platform will provide users with the opportunity to visit the establishments’ review page and rate its performance on carrying out sanitary and safety directives related to the coronavirus.
Patrons will be asked if the staff was wearing masks, if social distancing was enforced, whether tables were disinfected between parties, were contactless menus offered, and if the restaurant provides hand sanitizer.
If a majority of reviews detail a lax in precautions, an alert with a yellow exclamation point reading “Social distancing might not be enforced” will appear on the restaurant’s main Yelp page.
In June, 2020, Yelp began to allow restaurants to publish details of their COVID-19 precautions but customers were not able to verify it for themselves.
