Several Gorillas at San Diego Zoo Test Positive for COVID

The San Diego Zoo Safari Park has announced that several gorillas have contracted the coronavirus in what is believed to be the first known cases among primates.

The park's executive director, Lisa Peterson, told The Associated Press that eight of the gorillas at the park are believed to have the virus and several have been coughing.

The park believes the infection came from a wildlife care team member who had tested positive, but was asymptomatic and wore a mask at all times around the gorillas.

Veterinarians are monitoring the gorilla's health and are being treated with vitamins, fluid and food.
