POMONA (CNS) - A 15-year-old girl who was reported missing out of Los Angeles and working as a prostitute was rescued by members of the Pomona Police Department's Sexual Exploitation and Trafficking Team, authorities said this morning.

Officers spotted the girl wearing a halter top and very short dress at about 3:40 p.m. Monday in the area of Holt and Clark Avenues waving at and approaching vehicles occupied by lone men and determined her actions were consistent with someone loitering with the intent to commit prostitution, according to Sgt. Brad Paulson.

When officers spoke with the girl, it was determined she was a teenager and had been reported missing out of Los Angeles, police said. She was taken into protective custody and later released to officials with the Department of Children and Family Services, Paulson said.

The name of the victim was not disclosed.

Investigators believe there are other unidentified victims related to this case and urged anyone with information to contact the department at 909-620-2085.
