WHITTIER (CNS) - A woman was shot and killed while arguing with a man in a store at a shopping mall in Whittier and the gunman was on the loose this morning.
Police were called about 5:30 p.m. Tuesday to the Whittwood Town Center on Whittier Boulevard near Santa Gertrudes Avenue after reports that shots were fired, according to the Whittier Police Department.
The victim was found on the ground inside the store and died at the scene, police said.
“We don't know if it was domestic related,'' Officer Hugo Figueroa told NBC4. “From what we're gathering it did appear the male and female knew each other. They were having some type of verbal argument while she was checking out and, at some point, he produced a handgun and shot her.''
A detailed description of the suspect was not immediately available.
The name of the victim was not disclosed.
