Another 'Highly Concerning' Coronavirus Variant Found In UK

UK Health Secretary Holds Virtual Press Conference On Covid-19

A more transmissible COVID-19 variant has been found in the UK and linked to South Africa. Two cases of this new variant have been identified and both are associated with people who travelled from South Africa in the last several weeks.  Experts say this new variant of COVID-19 is very different to the strain found in the UK recently.

British Health Secretary Matt Hancock says the second new variant “is yet more transmissible and it appears to have mutated further” than the one previously identified in the UK

All those who have been in contact with anyone who has been in South Africa recently have been told to quarantine.  In addition, there are new travel restrictions in place on those travelling from South Africa.
