DUI Suspect Leads Deputies on Chase, Drives Wrong Direction on Freeway

LYNWOOD (CNS) - A DUI suspect in a pickup truck led deputies on a chase in the South Los Angeles area today, at one point driving the wrong direction on the Century (105) Freeway before being arrested in a residential area.

Deputies spotted the white pickup truck in the Lynwood area about 1 p.m. and suspected the driver was under the influence.

The suspect failed to yield, and deputies pursued him on the 105 Freeway and on South Los Angeles area surface streets before he got back onto the freeway and drove in the wrong direction near the Crenshaw Boulevard exit, according to ABC7.

Deputies backed off of the chase at that point out of safety concerns, but tracked him from the air until he exited the freeway, Channel 7 reported.

The pursuit ended about 1:40 p.m. in a residential area in South Los Angeles, where the suspect pulled over, exited the vehicle and walked away. A few minutes later, deputies caught up to the suspect and tackled him to the ground.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department could not immediately provide information about the pursuit.
