Teen Killed While Playing with Handgun ID'd

BELL GARDENS (CNS) - The 17-year-old boy killed while playing with a loaded handgun with another boy in a residential portion of Bell Gardens was publicly identified today.  

Angel Ornelas was a Bell Gardens resident.  

The victim now identified as Ornelas and a 16-year-old boy were playing with the handgun at about 3:15 p.m. Friday in the 6600 block of Foster Bridge Boulevard, said Bell Gardens police Lt. Ruben Musquiz.  

“It looks like they were messing around with it (the handgun) and it went off,'' Musquiz said.  

Ornelas was pronounced dead at the scene, he said.
