L.A. County Supervisor Says: Do As I Say, Not As I Do

Hypocrites!!

That's what we think of some of our local "leaders." These people are supposed to lead by example, but yet at every turn they prove it's one set of rules for them, and another for us!

L.A. County Supervisor Shiela Kuehl had JUST voted to ban outdoor dining at L.A. County restaurants because of COVID-19 safety concerns, then she promptly sauntered on over to Il Forno Trattoria in Santa Monica to enjoy a meal.

Nevermind that she called outdoor dining "a dangerous situation" because the "servers aren't protected from us, and they're not protected from their other tables that they're serving." No matter, she chowed down on her meal without regard for her safety or the safety of anyone else.

Well someone tipped off Investigative reporter Bill Melugin at FOX 11 News. So, Melugin headed over to see what was going on and managers at Il Forno said simply they didn't want to get involved so they had 'no comment.'

When he inquired to Kuehl's staff about the visit, they provided the following statement:

"She did dine al fresco at Il Forno on the very last day it was permissible. She loves Il Forno, has been saddened to see it, like so many restaurants, suffer from a decline in revenue. She ate there, taking appropriate precautions, and sadly will not dine there again until our Public Health Orders permit."

Yes, technically outdoor dining was still allowed, but COME ON...you JUST spouted off about how dangerous this activity was, then you to do it? Why is it not dangerous one hour then suddenly dangerous the next?

L.A. County Supervisor Janice Hahn, who voted to continue to allow outdoor dining, said Kuehl's decision makes it difficult for the public to trust those in charge.

Michael Voltaggio, a local restaurant owner reacted to the incident telling FOX 11.

"For me it's just proof of the continous hypocrisy and just the lack of leadership and education as to what's happening right now in this sort of shoot from the hip mentality that's not doing anybody any good."

Bill Melugin will join John & Ken at 3pm to talk about this stunning (yet not surprising) hypocrisy!
