Cyber Monday is here and while you might be tempted by some of the great deals you see online today, there's another place where you can save a lot more money in the long run - by replacing your home's energy-sucking appliances through SoCalGas's rebate program.
Thanks to SoCalGas's wide array of rebates on energy efficient appliances, customers can save big money on the purchase of select appliances through Dec. 31st while at the same time, helping to conserve energy and reduce their overall cost.
SoCalGas and the California Public Utilities Commission have come together to help Californians upgrade their own appliances that can go a long way in saving your family money on monthly energy expenses. SoCalGas and the CPUC have increased their rebates on select new gas appliances in its rebate program by an additional 50% - saving you even more money in the long run.
“SoCalGas is offering bigger rebates for customers buying energy efficient appliances and other rebate qualified products—and with many people facing financial hardship during the pandemic, it couldn’t come at a better time,” said Brian Prusnek, SoCalGas director of customer programs and assistance. “We also know that many consumers are looking to replace a dryer, a furnace or water heater, or simply want to save money with a new energy saving appliance, and SoCalGas is delivering on our commitment to our customers by helping them further improve energy efficiency and reduce their natural gas bills.”
While some people might balk at the initial investment purchasing a high-efficiency appliance, the rebate program and the resulting long-term savings on your energy bills will more than pay for itself in the long run - not to mention the positive environmental impact you'll have by reducing your energy footprint. According to SoCalGas, between 2015 and 2019, their energy efficiency programs helped customers avoid using enough natural gas to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by over 1,100,000 metric tons - the equivalent of removing nearly 238,000 cars from the road annually.
Energy efficient appliances, over its lifetime, can save customers thousands of dollars in energy bills. For example, a tankless water heater can save you nearly $1,500 over an traditional water heater. A new energy efficient furnace will save you about $500 over the course of its lifetime, and even a smart thermostat, which can be set according to your schedule and temperature preferences, can save you $125 over its lifetime.
So if you're in the market to upgrade your home, you need to look at SoCalGas' rebate program which is offering customers rebates of up to $600 on select water heaters and furnaces, up to $500 on select fireplaces, and even $50 on select smart thermostats and Energy Star natural gas dryers through Dec. 31st.
