After 108 Years, Santa Goes Digital

After 108 years, Santa Claus is finally catching up with the digital age!

On Wednesday, the United States Postal Service revealed it's annual "Operation Santa" letter writing campaign -- which hooks up people with needy children -- is going digital for the very first time "to adapt to the ongoing pandemic."

Although the change means people who want to make children's wishes come true can now select a letter from the USPS website, the program itself will remain the same, spokeswoman Kim Frum said.

"2020 has seen its share of challenges affecting individuals and families in so many ways," Frum said. "COVID-19 resulted in job losses, temporary unemployment, and, sadly, the loss of family and friends. Couple that with devastation from natural disasters, and it's easy to see why USPS Operation Santa program is more important than ever."
