Man Killed in Artesia Shooting Identified

ARTESIA (CNS) - A man who was killed in a shooting in Artesia that left a boy wounded was identified today by authorities.

Jonathan Rodriguez, 25, died at a hospital following the shooting in the 11900 block of 168th Street at 11:45 p.m. Saturday, according to the Los Angeles County coroner's office.

“Deputies from the Lakewood Sheriff's Station responded to the location regarding a gunshot victim call,'' Deputy Tracy Koerner of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said.

“Upon arrival, they discovered the victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the upper torso. While at the location, they discovered a second victim.''

The second victim, a youth, had non-life-threatening injuries, he said, adding that it was unclear whether the victims are related. Both were taken to a hospital, where the man died.
