LOS ANGELES (CNS) - The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County dropped three-tenths of a cent today to $3.179, one day after rising one-tenth of a cent.
The average price is 1 cent less than one week ago, 3.5 cents lower than one month ago and 96.1 cents cheaper than one year ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It has decreased 43.6 cents since the start of the year.
The Orange County average price was unchanged, remaining at $3.143, one day after remaining unchanged. It is eight-tenths of a cent less than one week ago, 3.9 cents lower than one month ago and 95.5 cents cheaper than one year ago. It has decreased 40.2 cents since the start of the year.
“In a little more than a week, Southern California gas stations will be allowed to start selling the cheaper-to-produce `winter blend' of gasoline,'' said Jeffrey Spring, the Automobile Club of Southern California's corporate communications manager. “That could help to drive gas prices down at a faster pace.''
