Free Laundry Services Offered to Homeless in LA Area

It's great to hear something positive nowadays.

Southern California Gas Co. and The Laundry Truck LA are teaming up to provide free mobile laundry services to homeless people in the Greater Los Angeles area.

The Laundry Truck LA mobile laundromat, the nonprofit's second, has five sets of washers and dryers, a folding station and a water heater. They plan to offer services seven days a week, including night shifts, to people without homes throughout Los Angeles County's parks, recreation centers and specialized locations.

SoCal Gas donated $25,000 to The Laundry Truck LA earlier this year to support their efforts for people that don't have access to launder their clothes. Having cleans clothes means so much to this community of people trying to turn their life around.

The Laundry Truck LA was one of the first mobile laundry services in the U.S. and they estimate that by the end of this year they will have done 10,000 loads of laundry.

L.A. County has the 2nd highest population of those experiencing homelessness in the nation at nearly 59,000,and unofficially estimated 75% are unsheltered.
